Stress Management
PRACTICAL STRESS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP (1 day)
How you perceive and value yourself as a unique person and how you perceive your value to the world and to others, has a major impact on your functioning in the different areas of your life.
It affects your trust in others, your relationships, and your work life; nearly every part of your life. A positive self-esteem and self-confidence gives you the strength and flexibility to take charge of your life and to grow from your mistakes without the fear of rejection. It can also be seen as the most determining factor for success in life.
All of us are also faced with the paradox of stress. On the one hand it is an essential part of our lives which provides us with the impetus for vitality, progress and drive. Conversely, it is stress which is the root of a multitude of personal, inter-personal and societal problems.
Technological advances over the past decades have created major changes at all levels of society. Adjustment to changes of such magnitude requires, mental, physical and social adaptive skills. Unfortunately, development of such adaptive skills is well behind the rapid pace of intense changes with which we are confronted, thus creating a situation of conflict and imbalance. Unhealthy stress is a direct consequence of this imbalance.
It is impossible and highly undesirable to eliminate stress altogether. Physiologically, the total absence is equivalent to death. We should try to reduce stress in society and sensitise individuals to the means which can help them to operate at an optimal level, a level at which stress is a positive source and not a negative hindrance to performance, health and happiness. Approximately 50% to 75% of all visits made to the doctor are directly or indirectly related to stress.
During this programme each delegate will undergo an in-depth self-assessment process in order to identify all relevant stress factors which might impact on the well-being of the person. It will also equip delegates to acquire individual skills which will allow them to adopt a preventative mental and physical approach, increase their resistance and threshold to stress, build a positive self-esteem, and simultaneously eliminate unnecessary stress.
